FARMERS in North Yorkshire are being urged to complete applications for a subsidy called the Single Payment Scheme on time.

The Rural Payments Agency said it received more than 6,600 applications from the region last year, but only 1,500 have been sent in this year with the May 15 deadline approaching.

Applications after this time will be subject to penalties and those sent after June 9 will not be accepted.
