TWELVE cans of lager and a bottle of whisky were found next to the bed where a 35-year-old woman was found dead the day before she was due to be evicted from her Army accommodation at Catterick Garrison.

Susan Turnbull had a long history of alcohol and mental health problems an inquest at Richmond was told.

Coroner for the western district of North Yorkshire Rob Turnbull heard her marriage had broken down and she had been issued with an eviction notice for December 13.

Mrs Turnbull was found dead the day before, but the coroner was told efforts were being made by the Army welfare office to help her find hostel accommodation or an alternative home.

He said the level of alcohol found in her blood was in excess of the amount which would cause cardiac failure. He recorded a verdict that she died from acute alcohol poisoning.
