MORE than 8,500 people want to attend two free concerts to celebrate the end of the Imax.

Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra will be performing at the Pier Approach at 4pm and 8pm on Saturday, June 29, to mark the restoration of the town’s sea views and demolition of the hated Imax building.

A ballot saw more than 2,400 people register for tickets with the majority requesting four tickets.

Council leader Cllr John Beesley said: “I am delighted by the overwhelming response from people wishing to be part of these celebrations.

“The BSO will provide a superb evening of entertainment to mark the first events taking place at the Pier Approach open air events space.”

Each performance has a capacity for 1,500 spectators and successful applicants will be notified of how many tickets they have been allocated by May 10.

I imagine a lot of people would be happy for free tickets to this type of event, but I wouldn't pay good money to stand out in the rain.
