ANOTHER consultation exhibition on plans for a huge wind farm off the Swanage coast is scheduled for March 28.

Following its third phase of exhibitions earlier this year, Navitus Bay Development Ltd has said it will now hold another eight informal drop-in sessions before the chance to comment closes on April 5.

Residents can attend a session at Swanage’s St Edwards Church Hall, Victoria Avenue, between 9am-noon on Thursday.

More than 2,000 people attended the more formal events, but opponents of the scheme criticised NBDL’s new photomontages and its 3D model.

If it gets the go-ahead, the wind park would be 9.1 miles off Swanage and could see as many as 218 turbines, which could be as high as 200m.

NBDL project direct Mike Unsworth said: “Now people have had a chance to consider our plans, the surgeries provide a further occasion for them to ask the project team questions and collect project information. No new material will be displayed.

“Phrase three consultation continues until Friday, April 5, and we would encourage as many as possible to make their views known. Project information is currently displayed in public libraries and on our website where you can complete an online consultation form.”

Mike Owen, spokesman for Challenge Navitus, said: “We’re pleased that the public has another opportunity to ask the questions that they want to ask and they should take the chance to write to NBDL, MPs and councillors to express their views.

“It’s a shame that the meetings have been announced at such short notice, more time would have given more people the chance to get along.”
