POLICE in the New Forest say they are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a New Milton man.

It is believed the last time Alex Child, 36, from Old Milton Road had contact with family or friends was when he left his mum’s address in Tuckton Road, Christchurch, at 8pm on Saturday, March 23.

Since then his gold or yellow coloured Morris Marina Coupe car has been found abandoned in a farmer’s field in Seamark Road, Brooksend, Birchington, Kent. Officers from Kent police have carried out a search for Alex but were unable to locate him.

The car was unlocked and there was no sign of Alex. It is known that the car stopped at a petrol station on its way to Kent in Brighton Road, Hooley, Surrey where it was filled with fuel.

Officers are appealing for any information as to where Alex may be or anyone who saw the car on it journey from Hampshire to Kent. It is an unusual and classic car and it is likely to have stood out to many people.

It is not known why Alex went missing and officers say they are investigating several lines of enquiry. He is known to have an interest in classic cars and regularly travels large distances with his hobby. Anyone with information about Alex is asked to call the Duty Sergeant at Lymington Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
