SEVERELY disabled Ramon Hansford, who dreams of experiencing a “normal” teenage lifestyle, is set to head off to Ibiza.

AFC Bournemouth and the Ebony Robinson Foundation joined forces to help give 18-year-old Ramon, who has limited life expectancy, enjoy the time he has left.

Ramon has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a degenerative condition which affects all the muscles of his body.

He has some movement in his fingers but his respiratory muscles are affected and he has to be attached to a ventilator at night.

After the heartbreak of seeing some of his peers die, Ramon was clear about how he wanted to live the rest of his life and expressed a wish to go to Ibiza, like many other teenagers his age would.

Adam Murry, AFC Bourne-mouth director and chair of the Ebony Robinson Foundation, received a cheque for £1,000 from AFC Bournemouth to help make that trip happen.

The money was raised from the sale of signed photographs of Eunan O’Kane celebrating his goal against Wigan in the FA Cup.

Two hundred limited editions of the picture were sold for £5 each.

The Cherries midfielder said: “With all the money going to charity I’m delighted that the supporters took the opportunity to purchase one, to not only relive the moment but to also raise money for a worthy cause.”

Over the past 18 months, the Ebony Robinson Foundation has funded four dream holidays as well has paying for specialist medical equipment.

Adam said the cost of a holiday for youngsters such as Ramon were prohibitive.

“It’s not just a matter of booking a hotel and flight for one young man, Ramon will need specialist medical equipment to be flown with him and a team of carers to cater to his needs 24 hours a day while he is away,” he said.

“The travel insurance has to come from a specialist firm due to the medical equipment and the flights have to be able to cater to Ramon’s specific needs.

“The costs soon mount up and the holiday is likely to cost around £8,000 in total.”

Steph and Chris Churchill, whose sons Harry and Cody tragically died within two days of each other, were also at the cheque presentation.

They hope to be able to help other ill children in the future.
