Woman robbed by three men in Bournemouth

A 20-YEAR-old woman was pushed onto a wall and robbed by three men in Bournemouth.

The victim was walking along Kemp Road in Winton at night when she was approached by the men and pushed before they snatched her handbag.

The three robbers then ran off in the direction of Wimborne Road.

The ‘Fossil’ branded handbag was found discarded a short distance away with £20 missing.

Detective Constable Emma Smith, of Bournemouth & Poole CID, said: “This incident has obviously caused a lot of distress for the young victim and I am appealing for witnesses to assist with our investigation.

“Fortunately she escaped without being injured.

DC Smith said the three men are believed to be aged in their twenties.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed this attack take place, or may have information about those responsible, to contact police immediately and in confidence,” she added.

No arrests have been made over the robbery, which happened at around 1.40am on Friday, March 15.

Witnesses and anyone with information can call Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident number 15:23. They can also call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where mobile phone tariffs may apply.

We need a bigger police presence in the Winton area. It has progressively gone downhill - I have lived here for over 20 years and I no longer feel safe on the streets. I am the mum of a 16 year old and I fear for him and make sure he is home by 9 o'clock at night and frequently pick him up to ensure he doesn't have to walk home from friends. It won't be long before something terrible happens but then as usual it will be too late.

Or.....maybe people should be taught they aren't invincible. I'm 20 and wouldn't dream of walking around that time of night on my own. I know you should be able to, but with Police cuts and increased crime, it's just not safe anymore. A lot of people think it will 'never happen to them'...well.. I would rather pay for a taxi/bus any day that time of night. I never walk anywhere alone past 11pm, or past dark (depending on where I am)!

Well said. I think people will become increasingly realistic about the sad state of the world in which we live and take the steps you mention to protect themselves.
