THE total reward for information about the death of Jade Clark has now been increased to £15,000, Dorset Police has confirmed.

The Ringwood business community agreed to offer £14,000 in the hope of finding the driver of the Volvo XC90 who fled the scene after colliding with Jade. An additional £1,000 reward is offered by Crimestoppers.

The 16-year-old former Ringwood School pupil was riding a red moped along the westbound carriageway of the A31 near the Ashley Heath roundabout when the collision occurred at around 8.20pm on Sunday, February 24.

Spencer McCarthy, of Churchill Retirement Living, speaking on behalf of the business community, said: “Local people have been shocked and saddened by this tragic incident.

“The local business community is pleased to offer an additional £10,000 to increase the total reward to £15,000.”

The hunt for the Volvo driver is also due to feature on tonight's Crimewatch programme.

The net is closing in on the Volvo driver responsible for this tragedy and I hope when caught he/she will face the severest punishment the courts can hand down. Fleeing the scene of an accident like this was both callous and cowardly.

When did the trial take place? I must have missed it.

I thought the courts decided when someone is innocent or guilty not the public. The police haven't come close to stating that they believe the driver was responsible for the accident so I find it strange how people who know far less than the police come to the conclusion that they were responsible.

Indeed it is the job of the Courts to decide if someone is innocent or guilty - but leaving the scene of an accident in such a cowardly way, leaving a young girl dying in the road, is surely signs of the drivers feeling responsible at least in part?

If he/she had nothing to hide, why would they have left as they did and not come forward to clear up their side of it?

Guilty feelings perhaps?

Cowardly and unfeeling certainly!

The police said, "We know that the moped was upright at the time of the collision and believe that the Volvo XC90 was the first vehicle to collide with it." This is on the Crimewatch Appeal page.
.
It's a fact that the Volvo driver hit the moped first. The fact that they 'ran away' says, to me, that they know it was their fault. If not, if Jade wobbled on her scooter and into their path, for example, why not come forward? Innocent until proven guilty, but unless the driver comes forward we will all assume the worst.

will it ever be found, it is looking less and less likely as time goes by.
Specialy as it is a very rare car.
the police said they had checked 700 cars so far .. lets hope it will turn up soon and the drivers involved will be taught a lesson that will improve their driving in the future.

We've been through all this. Leaving the scene of a Collision is a crime in it's own right. That much, we know they are guilty of and that's enough to warrant a search - especially if the evidence the Police already stacks up.
