HELP: Martyn Underhill HELP: Martyn Underhill

A VOLUNTEER is being sought to be the eyes and ears of Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill in Boscombe, pictured right.

Mr Underhill, right, is looking to recruit a PCC Advocate for the Boscombe area and, if the initiative is successful, to recruit more in others areas of Dorset.

Although it will be an unpaid role, the successful candidate will be paid expenses and must be available for between one and five hours each week.

The person selected will support Mr Underhill’s work on community issues in a bid to make Boscombe a better place.

“I cannot be everywhere all the time and I have found that community issues are complex, multi-agency challenges that need a lot of work” said Mr Underhill.

Why should we, he is paid enough, get on with the job and do some planning.
We pay enough council tax and income tax.......what is this more free labour.
And they are closing police stations............

That was my first thought. Hes being paid silly money, why cant he do it himself, rather than expect someone else to do his job for nothing.

I thought he was vocal at saying he wouldn't pay an assistant...so clever chap getting a volunteer instead. Does he still have a dedicated PCC team though on high salaries...maybe one of them could do it?

Good idea, please extend this voluntary aspect to the PCC post. For only then will we come forward to 'spy' on others for nothing.

Here I'll do the job for free right now - the problem is too many people with drug and alcohol abuse issues in one small concentrated area. Separate them, spread them across the borough and force them to enter into meaningful effective rehabilitation schemes (not one of the many unlicensed rehabs in Boscombe area) with lose of benefits for those who don't help themselves.

Introduce more rewards for the hard working in our community, clean our streets more regularly, build more FAMILY homes and throw the PCC's support behind all the many good community events and initiatives that take place in the Boscombe area.

There we go - job done in five minutes.

Seriously though there's no point in a Boscombe resident grassing on the rest of the community when the police don't tackle the root cause of crime in Boscombe - drugs, alcohol and unemployment.

Actually, I applaud this, AS LONG AS THE CRITERIA FOR THE SUCCESFULL CANDIDATE IS NOT PICKED BY BEING AN OUT THERE RIGHT ON, pick an average British person please.

Should have thought about that one before taking the job. Although, as the experienced copper you are made out to be, isn't that comment just a little ingenuous?
