Heatherlands First School in running for £5k grant
4:00pm Friday 15th March 2013 in News
HEATHERLANDS First School in Poole and Bournemouth Scouts are in the running for a £5,000 grant after entering the national CyberSmart Awards.
Both groups are helping local children to improve their internet security awareness and enable them to stay safe online.
Heatherlands has been nominated in recognition of its work with reception to Year 3 children being challenged to design an e-safety character to represent an element of being safe online.
The character will then be used to highlight e-safety from a child’s point of view.
Bournemouth Scouts have been nominated in recognition of its work to undertake the IT Badge. The course, running for the past 10-years, includes videos and lectures emphasising how to be smart online.
To vote for Heatherlands or Bournemouth Scouts, visit cybersmartawards.org/ and cast your vote.
The entry in each region with the largest number of votes when nominations close on 22 March will go through to the regional finals, and the final winner and two runners-up will be selected by an expert judging panel.
