SEA views will increase at the Imax site when a larger crane is brought for the demolition work next week.

Contractor Interserve has been tearing deeper into the doomed building on Bournemouth seafront and working further backwards on the seafront side of the structure.

An second, additional crane will be extended 68 metres high to hang a protective mat on the Bath Road side of the former 3-D cinema on Monday as the views of the sea and Purbecks continue to open up.

Barry Lacey, site manager, said the work is going as planned.

He said: “It’s all going safely without any accidents or incidents and that’s our primary aim.

“Next week we’ve got the big crane coming in so we will be working on both sides.”

The demolition is expected to be finished by the end of March.

In April work will start on the new public performance space planned by Bournemouh council.

Until June workers will install lighting, carry out hard landscaping and put in handrails and balustrades.

Councillors please don't plan anything
leave the views alone!

Call me a nerd, I'm sure many will, but if the council had any sense they would set up a screen on the sea-facing wall of the Pavilion this summer and show a time-lapse film of the demolition. It has certainly been a bigger attraction than anything under the waves in Boscombe, they have missed a trick.

I drove past the Imax demolition on my way home this afternoon but the only "view" I got was of Harry Ramsdens with it's garish illuminated sign...

Rip it down! Restore the view! We need to see the sea!

Use explosives and charge £10 to watch. Income for the council!

The I max is looking better and better each day.
Perhaps after this is finished someone may be able to dismantle the councils right to enter into any more bright ideas in the future, we cant afford the massive waste of money that our elected morons have allowed to go down the plughole any more.

Less is more as the saying goes.
Just watching as the tide comes in
and the foamy waves lap the shore,
what could be more appealing?
Ooh I know a few mermaids would
attract some sight-seers!
