TAILS are wagging for a 16-year-old schoolgirl and her two dogs that have come second in a competition at Crufts.

Jodie Forbes of Bournemouth School for Girls and her border terriers Bramble, aged two, and Hazel, aged six, entered the Crufts Factor competition, which was held at the NEC in Birmingham as part of Crufts 2013.

There were over 25,000 other dogs at the three day competition presented by the Kennel Club.

Jodie said: “It was our first time in the main arena. I did enjoy it but it was quite difficult sometimes”

Unfortunately the dance routine ran into its difficulties prior to the competition, leaving them with only one day to practice a new routine. However the trio managed to pull the performance together well enough to come second.

Jodie said: “They mark you on how good it was and how the dogs react to the owner.”

Jodie’s mum Lisa said her daughter had worked hard in the run up to the competition. She said: “It was brilliant. We were shaking a bit but Jodie did really well in front of everyone.”

Jodie shared the secrets of training two dogs, She said: “You have to teach them both separately and then put it together.

“I’m really close to them and we never treat them as show dogs. To me they’re just pets and a part of the family.”

Jodie hopes to do much more with her two dogs in the future and there’s already talk of the show future of any other pups that might come along.
