Well said, I agree entirely and no I'm not a scrounger on benefits. Fortunately I'm a very lucky pensioner that worked in both the private and public sectors. I use my time to campaign actively but peacefully for causes I feel strongly about and live by the ethos that everyone is entitled to be treated with respect regardless of colour or creed.

Yes Starbucks should be paying more tax, but all they have done is what many other companies are doing to avoid it. It's a legal loophole and until the Government close it they have done nothing illegal.

As for the protesters, what do they think they will achieve waving placards and wearing their silly "V for Vendetta" masks? Apart from looking like a sad bunch of muppets of course! I bet some of these guys were involved with that "Occupy Boscombe" group who were illegally squatting in the BCCA and Bournemouth University last year. You losers need to get off benefits, get a life and a job and stop being a nuisance to society.

The corporation is once again the sad fact that our high streets are being monopolised by the corrupt and homogenised stores at the expense of fair paying individualised independents ....community spirit be damned!
Freedom of speech should be nurtured in this land, because the Government are doing their best to strip us of that right.... well done for people who care enough to take to the streets.

There were only 3 protesters, 1 retired, 1 just came off night shift, and 1 on day off from being a carer...so the tax paid is lot more than three eighths of naff all...

Then you suggest the protesters stop protesting and get a job.

Starbucks are not breaking any laws. It is the UK government who created tax laws that enable big corporations to get out of paying tax. Would you pay more tax than you are legally obliged to do ?

There are dozens of people in Bournemouth who work cash in hand and don't declare their earnings to the tax man. I don't see people protesting against these people.

I am not apathetic, but if you want Starbucks, Amazon and the like to pay up their taxes you should be writing to your MP to ask for a change in the law to make the tax rules tighther. You say people have had enough of corporate greed but how many of these people have equity based investments, savings or pensions which are dependent on big company shares performing well if they are to grow.

Well they are all the "type" that drink smoke and waste money on the latest smart phones so they would be paying tax. How are your shares doing in any of these companies that make supply these products and services? Are they all paying their tax correctly or off shoring it to make bigger profits to pay share holders, so glad were all subsidising the share holder profit by paying our own tax in the UK.

Your response is typical of what I expected from someone who doesn't like the truth aimed at them. We all know that the vast majority of people in these "Occupy" protest groups are unemployed (and mostly unemployable) drop outs on benefits and nothing but a nuisance to society. Take your own advice and do something.... like get a job and start paying some taxes yourself!

Starbucks are only doing what hundreds of other large companies are doing, finding loopholes to avoid tax, I think all of us should find ways of doing the same.
As for the protesters, Its freezing cold out there, surely you could find something else better to do than mount a protest that is going to make no difference what so ever in the way large companies like Starbucks avoid paying tax.
