Yellow Buses seeks mothers-based charity to support

ARE you involved with or aware of a charity based around mothers?

Then Yellow Buses would like to hear from you as part of its innovative Carbon Stoppers campaign, run in conjunction with the Daily Echo.

Each week, Yellow Buses holds a Thank You Thursday when every trip taken contributes to a separately administered Community Chest.

The Yellows have pledged a minimum of £50 a week to the fund, which is available to schools, community groups and good causes in its area.

Since the scheme was launched in 2008 a total of £10,450 has been presented to 45 charities and good causes.

Yellow Buses held an additional Thank You day for Mothering Sunday to boost funds.

It means that there will be a minimum £250 Carbon Stop-pers cheque from March available to a charity or good cause based around mothers.

Charities which would like to put themselves forward for the money should email jwilkinson @yellowbuses.co.uk and include a daytime telephone number.

If they've got that much money knocking about, how about reducing the bus fares that have gone up almost 50% in the last few years?

I volunteer for a really important charity called Homestart. We support mothers with children under five as we believe that a happy mother makes a happy child. Mothers who benefit from Homestart often then volunteer themselves. It's all about friendship, companionship and supporting families. Invaluable help according to people who've accessed the service.
