Ten garages targeted in Westbourne break-in spree

A TOTAL of 10 garages were broken into in Westbourne.

A resident called the police when one garage was found to have been forced open with a sharp tool or implement and then it was found that nine more had been targeted.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “We received a call at 3.50pm on Thursday, reporting a break-in to a garage at a property along Portarlington Road.

“Nothing was taken in the incident, which is believed to have taken place sometime between 4pm on Wednesday and 12.15pm on Thursday.

“It appears the offenders entered and just looked around inside.

“It later transpired 10 garages had been targeted in total, and in all cases nothing was taken and no damage was caused.

“Crime prevention advice has been given to all the victims.”

Among that advice is the use of security lighting.

Witnesses or anyone with information, and any residents who are interested in purchasing an alarm for their garage or shed, can contact the Westbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team by calling 101.
