Spring's off for another week: Monday temperatures will feel like -9, with snow forecast
Spring will seem like a distant prospect this weekend as a wave of freezing weather and snow sweeps in.
A weather warning for snow has been issued, and temperatures of below freezing are forecast for Monday, with experts saying it will feel like -9C during the day as winds gust to up to 50mph.
The weather warning says: A spell of sleet and snow is expected, starting on Sunday evening in SW England, and affecting southern England more widely on Sunday night and Monday morning.
Snow will be accompanied by a strong easterly wind which will accentuate the very cold feel. Accumulations of 3 - 5 cm could occur quite widely over southern counties, and the public are advised to be aware of this wintry hazard.
Tuesday's forecast temperatures are even lower, down to -10C.

Right so we have a warning of possible severe weather for Monday & Tuesday. In which case the local authorities have plenty of time to make sure all the roads are well gritted, along with pavements etc around schools so there can be no excuse for them to be closed or for people to take a day off work due to dodgy roads. They cope with this sort of thing in the rest of Europe so why not here?
