First two days of Swanage Blues Festival hailed a success

ORGANISERS are reporting a successful first two days of the Swanage Blues Festival.

The three-day event started on Friday with fans streaming into the town and Steve Darrington, who sets up the twice yearly event, said the venues and hotels are reporting back to him that they are full.

Steve was struck down with illness and unable to go out on Saturday but is happy with the reports that he is getting back from others involved.

He said: “”It’s all going very well indeed and everyone has been telling me how great it is.

“Everyone is having a great time”

The festival is held twice each year with this weekend being its 19th time.

It originally started as a birthday party for local taxi driver George Crane, who turns 65 this year.

A single £10 weekend wristband ensures entry at 60 gigs in 15 indoor venues.

The venues include pubs and popular performances at the railway station with the event attracting visitors from across the world.
