Imax watch: how the demolition is progressing Imax watch: how the demolition is progressing

The seaward wall of the Imax building is being demolished today.

Two cranes are on site, with one holding up a massive sheet of metal to stop debris falling on the seafront.

Over the last week most of the front half of the building has been removed, although none of the external wall on the road side has yet been removed.

Just can`t wait for that lovely view to be reinstated coming down Bath Road Hill.
Don`t care how much it costs, money can`t buy a scene such as that!

That's the little red digger I sit and watch every morning whilst sat in the traffic jam on the fly over. He lifts a load of rubble up.....and moves it six feet to the left. No wonder its taking an eternity to come down!

Well if you don't care how much the 'scene' costs maybe you would like pay the £10million for it - and we can use the saved public money to restore and improve frontline care services for vulnerable people etc.

While at it you may care to take this principle to it's logical conclusion and flatten the whole town of Bournemouth - to gain the full spectrum of apparently priceless views from every angle!

Seriously the only thing the council tax payers should be watching here is what happens to this and it's adjoining sites in the future. Not least because it may just be that a select few in our illustrious Town Hall already have a darn good idea.

101golfer you should see what will be going up in its place. It looks like half a large tent for open air things. So you might not have that fantastic view you want.
I remember the old pier approach baths and can't understand why it was knocked down. At least visitor had somewhere to go when it rains.

101 Golfer- Ever heard of Eastcliff or Westcliff for views and cheaper than the millions it's going to cost B'mouth taxpayers for the demolition of the IMAX

Lib Dems actually, but don't let trivial details like accuracy impede your rhetoric

The worry is that the council is already looking at plans to build on the adjacent car park next to the Royal Bath so the view will still be compromised and if that is the case was it worth the 10 million to demolish this eyesore? ..We are talking Bournemouth Council here..money wasters the lot of them.
