3:49pm Tuesday 26th February 2013 in News
A TEENAGER was punched in the face during an attempted robbery in Winton.
The 13-year-old boy was approached by a man near the Winton Recreation Ground on Maxwell Road at around 8.50pm on Friday, 22 February.
The attacker demanded the boy hand over his mobile phone before punching him several times, causing a bloody nose and black eye.
The offender eventually made off empty handed.
Police Constable Gemma Wells, of Bournemouth police, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a young boy who has suffered some nasty injuries.
“This has obviously been a rather traumatic experience for him.
“The offender is described as a white man, aged around 20, approximately five feet nine inches tall and with light brown skin.
“He was wearing a dark coloured body warmer with a grey hood attached.
“I urge anyone who witnessed this incident, and anyone who may have information about the offender to call police as soon as possible.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 22:458. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.

13 year olds should be at home or with parents at 8.50pm not walking the streets on their own. Where were mum and dad?

If he was on his way home from scouts perhaps his parent need to meet him. Too many people around who want to harm kids on their own, I would never let my kids out on their own at that age.

I have to say that it is very irritating when walking on the pavement to be constantly met with people on their mobile phones either talking or texting and not looking where they are going!
