I'm a Dad to a beautiful Daughter and I would be devastated - it would near push me over the edge if the same happened to her.
My most sincere sympathies to both Jade's Mum and Dad who probably cannot believe what's happened let alone come to terms with all this.
Come on, let's push and push to get this awful accident blackspot improved - there shouldn't be so many slip roads over such a short distance and when 2 lanes lead to 4, idiotic drivers just put their foot down. I couldn't believe one comment from someone who said they were undertaken at an estimated 90mph - total, absolute lunacy. WHY?
The other drivers involved must be feeling so bad - they should consider giving up their driving licences if guilt is proven.

Such a tragic accident for a girl with her life ahead of her. I agree with yet another one... I have driven from Bournemouth to the M27 each day for 7 years, its not so much the speed of drivers but the slip roads and junctions that cause the most accidents.
The Fish Inn slipway along with the garage needs to be shut as you already have people pulling on to the road from Ringwood.
The Verwood turnoff should be moved or filtered up to the Ashley Heath roundabout and back over so they dont have to cross 3 lanes of traffic to get onto the A31. This wouldnt pose such a threat to the people trying to get onto the A338 sliproad from the A31 when you have cars crossing lanes infront of you.

You beat me to it, Lizabuff, with your suggestion about filtering exiting traffic up to the Ashley Heath roundabout to join the westbound A31 from there.
I was hoping there might be another comment page for this, rather than use the news of this girl's death, but let's hope that this tragic waste at least leads to some changes.

Almost had an accident in the exact same place on Sunday afternoon, driver crossing two lanes to get to the A31, no signalling. A dangerous stretch of road. Can't imagine what I'd feel like if it were one of mine.

To Jade's family and friends I offer my utmost sympathy. Sudden death, of any cause, is so devastating and the pain is unbearable. Take comfort from Jade's life and the good times you shared with her and carry her memory with you always. I have been where you are right now and I can say, from my own experience, that your memories will bring great comfort and your friends and family will see you through this awful time x

I live in Cornwall and I'm a H.G.V (artic) lorry driver, i have been travelling 5/6 days every week for the last 4 years from Cornwall to Southampton docks and use A35 & A31 everyday and have been on this stretch day and night, the A31 at Ringwood is the worst part of the journey, when i get to the bottom of poulner hill i go into lane 2 a good mile or more ready to head for the westcountry before it goes into the 4 lanes, my mate who was with me Sunday coming back from the docks said to me, why have i changed lanes so early, and i told him the road round the corner was deadly, came up for the 4 lanes and saw the accident about 5 minutes after it happened, it was a devastating sight to see ( i have not slept properly since)... i knew it was a motor cyclist, but did not know it was a young 16 year old girl until next morning on the internet, may she rest in peace, my heart and thoughts go to all her family and friends, xxx i came through that spot today, 26th and saw the "L" plate and flowers on the fence,

fence....it brought a tear to my eye's, i have a 17 year old daughter and will be inconsolable if anything ever happened to her or any of my 6 children, i come from the isle of wight and we holiday there every year in the summer, i travel up thru the night and catch a ferry from Southampton in early hours of morning, as a professional driver ive seen many of familys with kids on the way for their summer hols wrecked/shattered by other peoples totally irresponsible moments of madness behind the wheel coz they are too f@?*ing inpatient to get where they are going

As a rider of a sports bike I would not go on that stretch of road on a 50cc bike!

The road is not dangerous, it's the speed drivers choose to travel along it that is sio dangerous. Having lived in Ringwood and now commute past it every day, I know only too well how dangerous it can be especially in the rush hours and in the dark. If there have been few deaths, that's a miracle. I have personally witnessed many near misses and sheer lunatic driving.

After hearing of poor Jades death I have decided to take action. From now on every single day when I pass through the Ringwood junction on the A31 I will be slowing my car to 50mph OR LESS. I encourange other drivers to do the same. We don't need to wait for the legislators to take action. Just do it. SLOW! The road is not a race track.

The road is not dangerous yes, but speed is not dangerous to. Peoples driving skills is dangerous. Speed will not kill you. Going 50mph is just silly. Go 50 if you have to i'e like there is traffic. In France it's 83mph and this is safe to do so, as at the moment they are much better drivers than us. Peoples driving skills are so poor here, young and old drivers.

So by saying you'll be slowing to 50 or less your admitting you are also one of the drivers who travel along at a perfectly legal 70mph?

I agree the speed limit on this stretch should be reduced, there are far to many junctions, slip roads and lane changes going on for people to be traveling at 70mph, most of the time you can't get up to 70 anyway. But I would be surprised if excessive speed beyond the legal limit was a factor in this accident.

A poorly lit 20-25mph scooter may be fine on a 30mph street lit town or city centre but its certainly not the place to be on a dark unlit four lane 70mph dual carriageway, and that's no fault of the poor girls, that's a fault in the law.

This news has travelled to me In The French Alpes... So very sad. Although a feeling of relief that the man who caused this has been arrested.

Rest in Peace Jade, no doubt you will be missed by many.

Awful, tragic news, I offer my deepest condolences.

There have been some comments about the safety of the road, but engineering will not stop people from behaving in an inconsiderate and dangerous manner. Net Turner claims that in France "they are much better drivers than us". This is incorrect. Deaths and serious injuries caused by RTAs in France are much more common than in the UK, and French ministers have commented that it would be better if the French drove more like the British. Further laws were introduced in France last year in an attempt to reduce drivers speed and the appallingly high level of deaths and injuries on their roads compared to the much of the rest of Europe.

The person arrested and charged in relation to this incident was already banned from driving, and had no insurance, in addition to failing to stop at the scene, so I don't suppose they were complying with any other law or moral code of motoring. As a result someone has died.
