West Street’s memorable moments documented in Wimborne shop

THE creative initiatives of 12 businesses are now being showcased in whole food shop Spill the Beans in Wimborne.

The bend in West Street is now considerably more visible having drawn local people to the area following the successful themed events of Pumpkins and Scarecrows and What the Dickens Christmas trails.

Owners of the family-run business, Maggie and Eric Drennan, said they were delighted to now host the streets very own ‘shop window gallery’ as a way of documenting the memorable and colourful moments the street has seen.

Keen photographers of the other independent shops have been keeping record of the street’s projects.

Maggie said: “We think it is nice for customers to know how we were all involved in it and who the shop keepers behind it were.”

Their first pursuit together began in October last year when West Street was decorated with papier mache pumpkins and scarecrows for the Wimborne Food Festival.

Maggie said: “I always do something to join in but this time I was talking to the other shop keepers and we all decided to do it together “It has snowballed from a small idea into something really good.”

Easter will see the streets next ‘surprise’ but until then, the gallery is on view from the shop window round the clock.

The public are also invited in-store to view more photographs during normal opening hours.
