THE family of Weymouth youngster Max Price will host a fundraising event more than a year after his failed kidney transplant.
Money raised will help mum Michelle and dad Shaun who travel with five-year-old Max on the costly journey to Southampton three times a week for dialysis treatment.
A 70s-themed disco will be held at the Portland Conservative Club on June 8 from 7.30pm to boost travel funds.
Mum Michelle said she and her family were ‘eternally grateful’ for the people who had helped her son, who suffered with chronic renal failure.
“Max is doing well at the moment but the journey to Southampton three times a week is very expensive.
“The fundraiser is so important to help us out.
“We are eternally grateful to everyone who has helped us raise money.”
Max, who celebrated his birthday on Saturday, is currently on a live donor list and could be called upon to have a second kidney transplant at any point.
Last year, many dedicated fundraisers raised money to help Max, including Kristy Lucas who shaved off her hair during a fundraising event which raised £1,500.
Max’s grandfather Paul Allington, who is organising this year’s event, said: “After the last transplant failed they leave a few months for the body to recover. It is so much for a little boy to cope with but he is so brave.
“Any funds raised will really help my daughter Michelle and her husband Shaun.
“It costs around £1,500 a year in travel costs, it is really tough.”
The brave youngster attends Beechcroft St Paul’s Primary School twice a week and lives with his family on Southview Road.
The evening will include live entertainment and it is hoped local businesses will donate prizes to boost funds.

Hundreds signed up in appeal
THE Dorset Echo teamed up with the NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) donation service for our Gift of Life appeal.
The 2009 campaign was prompted by the plight of young Max and encouraged people to sign up for the NHS Organ Donor register.
More than 1,000 people in the DT postcode area signed up to the register in a matter of months.
