Resurfacing work and pothole repairs on Richmond Hill

ESSENTIAL repairs to one of Bournemouth’s busiest stretches of road will take place on three consecutive nights next week.

The emergency works will be carried out at two locations on Richmond Hill and in Richmond Gardens at its junction with Richmond Hill, starting at midnight on Monday.

As Richmond Gardens is the only access to the multi-storey Richmond Gardens car park, the work will be undertaken at night to minimise disruption.

During these times, cones and barriers will be in place at various locations.

Stuart Best, street services manager, said: “Richmond Gardens and Richmond Hill are heavily used sections of the highway and that is why the decision has been made to carry out these urgent works at night.

“The works will include resurfacing sections of the road and pothole repairs and is scheduled to take three nights to complete.”

Really? Richmond Hill used to be, but today it is a faded shadow of it's former self and a 'virtual' cul de sac.

While working there what a good idea to reconnect Richmond Hill to Exeter Road, Avenue Road and Bourne Avenue with a big leafy roundabout in the Square.

Then the life-blood of traffic flowing to newly 'free' car parks could begin to revive our dying town centre. The customer is always right they say - and the modern customer is usually in a car - and currently at a car friendly retail park not in the town! - Fact.

What about carrying it on up to the bit of Wimborne Road to the Cemetery Junction? That's a right old patchwork job (as are most roads in Bournemouth).

out of all the roads they could do they do Richmond Hill which is basically a cul de sac and dosen't have that high of a volume of traffic.
Why not do works on Wimbourne Road, Holdenhurst Road, Old Christchurch Road and Christchurch road some of the most used roads in Bournemouth.
