Teenager traumatised by attempted grab in subway

A teenage girl has been left "extremely scared" after a man tried to grab her as she walked through a subway.

Detectives in Poole are appealing for information to come forward after the incident in the subway on Ringwood Road near the Alderney roundabout.

The victim, a 15-year-old Poole girl, was approached by an unknown man who grabbed her arm and tried to pull her away from the location.

Luckily she was able to shrug him off and run away. She was not injured. It happened 3.30pm and 4.10pm on Friday February 8.

Detective Constable James Batty, of Poole CID, said: “This has been very upsetting for the young victim, and she has been left extremely scared. The motives of the offender are not known at this time.

“He is described as a white man aged between 20 and 40, around five feet five inches tall with light brown coloured stubble, and wearing a hooded top.

“I would ask witnesses and anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they might be able to assist with the investigation.”

After the publicity over a similar incident near the train station I would certainly think twice about going it alone through a subway. On the last occasion I used it there was a lot of people around but on returning - nobody! So I took the long way round "above ground" but I was still wary and felt the need to take more care while in this area during the late evening.
