DORSET Police are urging residents to lock their garages and sheds following a spate of burglaries in Weymouth.
The incidents took place in the Preston area of the town, with tools and pedal cycles being stolen.
Police constable Sally Ludlow said: “Preston has suffered a spate of shed and garage breaks recently.
“As a result, a number of tools and push bikes have been stolen.
“Garages should be as secure as your home, especially if there is anything of value inside.
“We are encouraging the public to review their security and ask anyone who sees anything suspicious or is a victim of crime to contact Dorset Police on 101 to report it immediately.
“We need to work together to make Dorset Safer.”
Preston Safer Neighbourhood Team is holding a public meeting to offer crime prevention advice to members of the community and discuss how the team will be tackling the issue.
The meeting will take place at the Preston Village Hall from 6pm on Wednesday, February 27.
