CROWDS were out on the streets for a protest against a bus company’s decision to pull out of a Weymouth estate.

There is anger in Southill following First’s announcement that service 5 will be withdrawn from March 24.

People turned out today to voice their concerns.

Residents believe the company should work with local authorities to find solutions before just pulling out.

Some elderly people who get free travel say they are prepared to pay towards the fare.

They fear they will be left stranded with no bus service to town.

County councillor David Harris, who organised the bus stop demonstration this afternoon, said he was delighted with the turnout and pledged to investigate.
