Collision between car and motorbike on Sandbanks Road

Sandbanks Road was closed for just under an hour this morning after an accident involving a car and a motorbike.

Police and paramedics were called at 8.50am following the collision outside the Lilliput Service Station.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was complaining of head pain and taken to Poole Hospital for treatment, but his injuries are thought to be minor.

The driver of the grey Fiat Punto also involved was shaken but uninjured.

The road was closed between the junctions of Anthony’s Avenue and Blakedene Road and reopened at 9.50am.

YTF is this called an accident?

It's not,it's an incident or a collision,or another incidence of vulnerable road users not being looked after by other road users.

I assume it was an accident? As opposed to a motorcyclist riding in to a car on purpose

I believe that the Police would have called this a Road Traffic Collision (RTC), they stopped calling them Road Traffic Accidents (RTCs) a long time ago.

This article was written by a journalist though.

An accident is described as follows

Noun

- An unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury.
- A crash involving road or other vehicles, typically one that causes serious damage or injury.

I hope all are okay.

Nothing said about how the accident occurred, so you can't jump to conclusions about what happened.

But yesterday I saw some shocking manoeuvrings by motor cyclists whilst I was heading along the B3081 from Shaftsbury to Ringwood. It wasn't the odd one or two either, but every one that shot past me was breaking the speed limit by a fair amount. Overtaking on corners seems to be a common issue too, or as going through Six Penny Handley when I'm pulled in to let the car coming in the other direction go past due to a parked car, don't shoot past causing the other car to brake and then wave your fist at them.

Up to the roundabout with the A354, another one shot out right in front of a van heading north. Another Squeal of brakes from the van driver and beeping of horns but the motorcyclist just shoots off on their own pleasant way. Finally when traveling through Verwood, the two motor cyclists both on 600C sports bikes who came out of the petrol station behind me and dressed in jeans and combat trousers with trainers, who then shot past me within 100m looked like they were over double the speed limit in the middle of a built up area and right next to exit's from the states where a young child was knocked down many years ago. Could you have not waited until you were out of the town at least.

And are those minute number plates actually legal, or the purple headlights?

I don't know if it was the weather, but they were all out yesterday!

It's more likely to have been an incident where the driver pulled out of the garage without due care and attention,or carelessly.
