Engineers work to find out cause of darkness in Bournemouth

ENGINEERS were yesterday trying to establish the cause of a fault which plunged hundreds of homes into darkness on Thursday night.

A spokesperson for Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) said power was restored to all homes in the Boscombe area around 11am.

“There was a fault on the network, which affected around 1,700 customers,” the spokesperson said.

“Our network is flexible and we can re-route customers to minimise the time they are off.

“The fault we believe is with a fault in our underground cable network, which we will be investigating. At present we do not know what caused it but apologise for the disruption.”
