HOMES in Weymouth have been left in the dark after a power cut this evening.

Areas affected include Wyke Road and Lansdowne Square but the rest of the town is okay.

Scottish and Southern Electric say that all properties should be back on tonight or in the early hours of tomorrow.

A spokesman said engineers are currently locating the problem and the length of time it takes to fix will depend how bad the fault is but it could be between two and eight hours.

Some 70 homes were without power from about 3.30pm when the power first went off but they had supplies restored by 6pm.

Now, about 10 properties - mostly in the Lansdowne Square area - remain affected.
