TWICE world champion street dancer Darren Symes wowed the judges when he strutted his stuff on one of Britain’s favourite TV programmes.

Darren, known as Dymes, earned an impressive three gold stars and won huge praise for his Body Popping performance on Sky1’s Got To Dance.

Judges were speechless throughout his routine before heaping praise upon the 17-year-old Arts University College Bournemouth student.

Ashley Banjo told him: “Your body control is ridiculous – the illusions you created were even more ridiculous.”

And he said he didn’t “even have a word good enough in my brain” to describe Darren’s impressive musicality.

Darren is a former Ringwood School student and has won dozens of dancing titles. As a young child he competed in ballroom dancing competitions before switching to street dance aged 12. After being awarded three stars he now has to wait to find out if he has won a place in the semi-final of Got To Dance.

A delighted Darren from Queen’s Park Avenue said: “I was surprised by the judges’ reaction but I thought I’d done better than three years ago when I didn’t get the same positive response and didn’t make it through.

“I’m hoping to take part in the semi-final but I still haven’t heard for definite yet. I’m studying film, photography, art and design and really enjoy photography but I would also like to dance and teach; maybe it will be possible to do both. Some days I practice for three or four hours a day, it’s a bit sporadic and on other days I don’t dance at all.”

Darren has already secured a place in the quarter-final of the French event Juste Debout at London’s Camden Centre and now has his sights pinned on taking part in the grand final in Paris on March 10.

His proud mum Suzanne Langley said: “We have got our fingers crossed.

“The comments from the judges were extremely positive.”
