A WOMAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries this morning after two cars crashed in Verwood.

The emergency services were sent to the B3081, close to the Recycling Centre, at around 9.40am.

The driver of a black Vauxhall Astra was taken to hospital. Her injuries were described by police as serious, but not life threatening.

A woman driving the other car, a silver VW Golf, was not seriously injured, police said.

Firefighters from Verwood, Ferndown and Fordingbridge were sent to the scene and were called upon to release both women from their cars.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said both women were taken to hospital and it also cleared up debris on the scene.

The road was closed for around two hours to allow the vehicles to be removed.
