Debbie Simpson is set to be Dorset's next Chief Constable
DEBBIE Simpson has been selected as the next Chief Constable of Dorset Police.
She had already been covering the role as Acting Chief Constable and now the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Martyn Underhill, along with a selection panel, propose to make her position permanent.
Her selection will now be considered at a Confirmation Hearing by the Police and Crime Panel on Thursday, February 7, at County Hall, Dorchester. Speaking after the announcement Mr Underhill said: “I am delighted to propose Debbie Simpson as the next Chief Constable of Dorset.
“This was a unanimous decision by the panel. There was a strong range of candidates and the panel had a difficult job. I would like to thank all the candidates for their interest.”
The appointment was made after two days of interviews and tests.
The candidates were questioned by a host of other agencies, including the Police Federation, Unison, Dorset Fire and Rescue and other organisations.
