SNOW is once again falling across the area.

It is causing problems on the roads across the area.

The A35 is partially blocked in both directions between the B3159 junction in Winterbourne Abbas and the White Way junction in Litton Cheney, because of snow, ice and an obstruction on the road.

And traffic is slow on the A35 between Shell roundabout in Bere Regis and the A351 junction in Lytchett Minster, because of an earlier accident.

Motorists are urged to take care in the conditions, as rain and sleet is expected to turn increasingly in to snow overnight.

The Met office has issued a yellow warning for ice across the area until Thursday.

Temperatures are expected to stay at around 1°C in Dorchester tonight and 2°C in the Weymouth area.

Dorset Police is reporting that the snowfall beganat about 1pm in north Dorset, and moved south across the county, beginning to settle in some areas later in the afternoon.

Heavy snow was reported in Beaminster, and the Old Sherborne Road was described as having 'treacherous' conditions.

A spokesman for the force said road conditions generally remained 'passable but congested'.

He added: "Motorists should plan ahead and make sure their cars are clear of ice and snow before setting out on their journey.

"Please be patient in traffic and drive proportionately to the road conditions."
