No planned school closures tomorrow
12:42pm Sunday 20th January 2013 in News By Alex Winter
THERE are no planned school closures in the county tomorrow, despite continuing cold weather.
Temperatures struggled to get above zero this weekend, and more snow is likely for parts of the county.
Flurries have been predicted for Poole on Tuesday, while North Dorset is set to be the worst-hit, with Met Office forecasters predicting heavy snow at 6am that day.

What would this country come to if all the shops and workplaces close because of a little snow, in 63 that was snow.

Down Pound Lane, across Fernside Road, along Joliffe Road to Tatnam corner, down Wimborne Road turning in by the Fire Station.
I was just the same as the hundreds of other children of that era and the teachers we had in those days were also at school before us and left after us summer and winter.
It never did us any harm.

It's a national scandal, can't believe more isn't made of it but it just seems to be accepted now as the norm.

Due to parental choice in school selection many kids live some considerable distance away from their chosen schools.
Plus due to the fact that many teachers can't afford property in this area they live 10s of miles away and commute long distances each day.
No doubt there are other reasons as well, such as teacher-pupil ratios but things aren't quite as simple any more.

Kids stay home from school because parents can't drive to the school because of the snow. Kids need to walk to school, gives them exercise and would help the parents get fit as well.

Schools are shut under the guise of health and safety or the kids cant get to school, they and their parents seem to make it to the New Forest pretty well to play in the snow though.

Thanks for the history lessons guys but society has changed a lot since you were all at school...
