PASSENGERS will be able to collect pre-booked rail tickets from machines at Bournemouth station as part of a £200,000 investment programme by South West Trains.

The station is one of five which will benefit from 14 new “ticket on departure” machines.

Passengers who have booked online will be able to collect tickets at the station using the credit or debit card they booked with.

The other stations to benefit are London Waterloo, Southampton, Southampton Airport and Clapham.

The initiative is part of a £50million programme to improve station facilities.

Paul Chick, head of IT applications for parent company Stagecoach, said: “We have already invested heavily to install additional ticket machines at our key stations and at Waterloo in particular as it is such a busy station.

"With many passengers now choosing to buy their tickets through our website, we wanted to provide even easier access to passengers simply wanting to collect their pre-booked tickets and who don't necessarily need to use one of our full service ticket machines.”

This is late news, I actually booked a ticket early in January and collected it from Bournemouth Station with no problem.

So, does that improve punctuality, or guarentee a seat?
No, its just another step to herald the totally staff free dream of the Transport moguls.

You've been able to collect pre-booked tickets from machines at Bmth station for at least 4 years.

At Pokesdown you do not have an option but to use the machine thanks to the limited opening hours!

This doesn't really seem like up to date news. While I haven't travelled from Bournemouth, I know you have been able to collect pre-booked tickets from Poole station (not listed as one of your 5) for ages!

I collected pre-booked tickets at least a year ago in Bournemouth.

The headline and opening paragraph of this story are incredibly misleading.

You HAVE been able to collect pre-paid tickets for years.

They have installed additional machines solely for this purpose now to cope with extra demand from people booking online.

This is really shoddy reporting.
