PASSENGERS will be able to collect pre-booked rail tickets from machines at Bournemouth station as part of a £200,000 investment programme by South West Trains.

The station is one of five which will benefit from 14 new “ticket on departure” machines.

Passengers who have booked online will be able to collect tickets at the station using the credit or debit card they booked with.

The other stations to benefit are London Waterloo, Southampton, Southampton Airport and Clapham.

The initiative is part of a £50million programme to improve station facilities.

Paul Chick, head of IT applications for parent company Stagecoach, said: “We have already invested heavily to install additional ticket machines at our key stations and at Waterloo in particular as it is such a busy station.

"With many passengers now choosing to buy their tickets through our website, we wanted to provide even easier access to passengers simply wanting to collect their pre-booked tickets and who don't necessarily need to use one of our full service ticket machines.”
