POLICE are hunting two men who burgled a house in New Milton on Tuesday while a family were sleeping.

The occupant of the house in Longleat Gardens disturbed two men inside his house around 4.40am.

When he confronted the offenders, they assaulted him, causing a minor head injury, which did not require hospital treatment.

They got away with cash, Playstation games and an engagement ring as well as DVDs and sporting equipment.

The first man is described as white, slim build, late teens to early 20s, 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a dark woollen hat, dark duffle coat with a hood, jeans, with a dark scarf over the lower half of his face.

The second man is described as a large white man with a large belly, in his early 20s, 6ft 4in to 6ft 5in and was wearing a black baseball cap with yellow writing on it, a dark scarf across the lower half of his face, a black coat with yellow writing on the front and white Nike trainers.

Hampshire Police said the incident was “very frightening” for the victim and his family and officers believe the offenders are local. Anyone with information should contact New Milton police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
