A WOMAN was left in hospital with serious injuries following an alleged assault in a flat in Boscombe.
It happened on Tuesday afternoon and yesterday police from the crime scene investigation unit were on the scene in Aylesbury Road looking for clues as to what happened.
Police have released limited information about the incident, but said officers were called after an allegation of assault at the property in Aylesbury Road, off of The Crescent, at 3.45pm on Tuesday.
A spokesman said: “A 36-year-old woman from Bournemouth sustained serious injuries. She was taken to hospital by ambulance and is currently being treated for her injuries.
“A 48-year-old man from Bournemouth was detained at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Residents in the road yesterday said they knew little about what had gone on.
But one neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “I saw two girls come out of there effing and blinding – one of them said ‘He tried to strangle me’.
“There is always something going on around here. There was a guy who went off in a van at the same time.”
Another neighbour added: “I didn’t see anything, but it wouldn’t surprise me, it’s not the nicest place to live. There is always some sort of problem around this area.”
Cllr Chris Wakefield, who represents the area on Bournemouth Borough Council, said: “From the information that I’ve been given it appears that this is an isolated incident within a premises and I would encourage anybody who has any information to contact the police.”
