It's not often your dispatched foes explode into showers of blue paint, but then Anarchy Reigns doesn't follow many gaming cliches.

During my time unloading muscular violence unto onrushing enemies, I've encountered nearly naked robo-men, a mechanical bull with a penchant for bovine humour, a policeman with silly weaponised cuffs, wobbly old plants and a torrent of minions hellbent on sprinting into the outlandish double chainsaw festooned on my arm.

It's a living, I suppose.

Anarchy Reigns reeks of cheese. The storyline is desperately dull and the character rosta, although twisted into various forms of ultimate fighting machine, are equally as uninteresting... at least until they open their mouths to reveal script murder pulled straight from 70s soap opera. Apart from the apocalyptic mutants, face-slicing weapons and potty-mouthed exchanges, of course.

But hell, sticking yourself in the middle of ridiculous fist-fodder for 10 minutes here isn't a bad way to spend precious console time, especially If you're one to hark back to button-belting arcade games of the 90s.

Forget the tedious single-player campaign mode, jump online and go potty in the raft of multiplayer modes. It's brainless, hilarious FUNtimes.
