7:54pm Sunday 13th January 2013 in News
Police examine the scene in Pitmore Lane, Sway
A CYCLIST is fighting for his life after a collision on a New Forest road.
The 25-year-old was one of a group heading towards Pennington when the accident happened near the Hare and Hounds pub on Pitmore Lane, Sway, at around 10.50am on Sunday, January 13.
His cycle was in collision with a grey Volkswagen Golf, driven by a man from Evesham in Worcestershire and heading towards Brockenhurst.
The cyclist, from Southampton, was taken by the air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital, where police said he was in critical condition.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has information that could assist the investigation, should contact the Totton Roads Policing Unit quoting operation Baroque, on 101.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Yesterday seeing some drivers overtaking in stupid locations and two lycra clad idiots not giving way and forcing me to do emergency stop. The few of each group that muddy the argument and give excuses to the idiots.

Like I said. The small minority of each group, both drivers and cyclists who make the situation dangerous.
Now feel free to report my posts.
I'll again say I hope the cyclist recovers.

To clarify for those jumping to conclusions. I was driving at below the speed limit when two cyclists came at speed out of a side road. Not stopping at a give way line , forcing me to have to do an emergency stop. Like I said. The small minority of each group, both drivers and cyclists who make the situation dangerous. Now feel free to report my posts. I'll again say I hope the cyclist recovers.

This wouldn't need to cost anymore because you could not use both modes of transport at the same time, and whilst travelling by cycle you are not going to do as much damage to other vehicles. Injury payouts to thecyclist could be limited to a maximum limit. Just a thought.
This is not cycling, every weekend the forest roads are turned into the tour de france they take no notice of the highway code or any other road users and god help any body or animal that may get in the way . I am sorry for the injured man but is it not time that they carried insurance no other road user can go without it.

And there as many uninsured drivers on the roads as there are total cyclits

The last time a cyclist died in the New Forest the driver was charged with death by careless driving, but it barely registered with commenters on here and the Southampton Echo.
