Delivery van gets stuck after driver miscalculation

The trapped delivery van The trapped delivery van

A DELIVERY van visiting Waitrose in Wimborne was forced to make an unscheduled overnight stop this week.

The driver of the van attempted to enter the underground car park, which has a height restriction of two metres, but became stuck.

The vehicle proved to be so jammed in that it had to stay put overnight.

Customer Annie Chambers, who lives in Wimborne, sent in photographs of the trapped van, and said motorists had to be directed around the Waitrose car park because of the problem.

“They were still letting cars get into the car park, because the ramp is two-way,” she said. “One side goes down into the car park, and that’s where the van was trapped. The other side allows cars to come back up. Someone had to stand on the other side of the ramp to direct cars in and out.”

Store manager Ian Burdekin refused to talk to the Echo.

So jammed that it had to stay overnight? Why didn't they just let some air out of the front tyres and reverse out?
Duh!

I hope he got a ticket for not parking in a marked bay as seems to be freely done by EDDC car park attendants.

The store manager refused to talk to the Echo! What could he possibly say to make it less embarrassing?

It will take more than a couple of titles to do that, anyway i dont suppose the driver is the regular poster who boasts about being a professional driver for 25 years,no accidents,no points etc etc of could it be PLEASE

Keep loading it up with people until it drops low enough and reverse back. Are we becoming a nation of incompetents?

I hope there is only one repair shop in the area and they charge an appropriately exorbitant price.

See.....prices have gone through the roof......you can't lower them like that.
I think the driver had a bad smell in the cab when he did this.

Customer Annie Chambers was bang out of order, I imagine the bloke who crashed the van felt foolish enough without this busy lady feeling implored to publicise it.

I hope the next time she makes a mistake she takes a picture, sends it the Echo and let's the public pass judgement.

Customer Annie Chambers you are a disgrace, shame on you and your pathetic life.

Don't worry jeebuscripes, I'm sure you will have a new van ready for your deliveries.
