Planning strategy for Christchurch and East Dorset at Westminster

THE new joint core strategy for Christchurch and East Dorset will be submitted to the Secretary of State for approval in March.

The document outlines the planning strategy for Christchurch Borough and East Dorset District over the next 15 years until 2028.

It looks at how much, what type, where and how development should take place and what infrastructure is required to service it, with objectives for the area and planning policies to achieve it. A six-week consultation phase ended on December 21 last year.

To read the documents, see dorsetforyou.com/348323 or a local library. Town council and district council offices also have copies.

I would recommend everyone interested in Christchurch to check out the Dorsetforyou site it is very revealing, especially some of the ruled out items ( the community hall is a goner) , and the doubling of housing and its encroachment into green belt is quite interesting. Even the resulting proposed map underlines the need to accept the proposed conurbation of Poole,Bournemouth and Christchurch.
