Pair accused of handbag theft found not guilty
10:08am Tuesday 8th January 2013 in News
TWO men accused of robbing women of their handbags have been found not guilty by a jury.
Daniel Gaffney, 23, of Millfield, Poole and Stephen Eaton, 19, of Barnes Road, Bournemouth were accused of robbing Tessa Beck and Carla Gosling after befriending them at the Buffalo Bar in Winton in the early hours of December 29, 2011.
The pair denied one charge of robbery each and protested their innocence before a jury at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Gaffney told the court: “It never happened.
“They might have been robbed but it wasn’t me or my friend Stephen.”
A jury of six men and six women took less than three hours to acquit the men.
