POLICE are warning motorists to keep their cars safe after two Blandford taxis were broken into.

Cash was stolen in each of the incidents, with the first theft occurring between 5.45pm and 6.55pm on December 29 in Kingston Close, and the second at around 8pm on January 3 along Eastleaze Road.

Blandford Neighbourhood Inspector Shawn Whitley said: “With two incidents in quick succession, I want to take the opportunity to remind motorists to be vigilant and take precautions to keep their vehicles and possessions safe.

“Don’t give thieves the opportunity to steal anything by always removing valuables from your vehicle, and keep doors and windows locked.

“If possible, drivers should park their cars in well-lit areas and always use the vehicle alarm if they have one.

“I’d urge anyone with information about either of these incidents to contact us. Equally, if you see anything suspicious, or anyone acting suspiciously, please report it to police.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence in 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 55 111.
