Burglary at Wareham auction house

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after burglars targeted an auction house in Wareham.

The incident took place between Wednesday 26 December 2012 at around 3.30pm and 9am on Monday 31 December 2012 at Cottees Auction Limited on East Street.

The offenders broke into the premises by smashing a window, and stole 39 items of jewellery and various other collectables from cabinets inside.

Police Constable Luke Davis, of Wareham police, said: “This burglary happened sometime over the Christmas and New Year period when the premises were unoccupied, and large quantities of expensive antique items have been taken.

“We are interested to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time of the incident, or have any other information that could help with our investigation.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who has been approached to buy any jewellery or antique items in strange circumstances or at unusually low prices.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 31:147. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.

An Auction House with valuable jewellery stored inside...and NO alarms?? Cowboy outfit is it? Watch their insurance premiums rise on renewal...if they have it?
