POLICE are appealing for witnesses after burglars targeted a flat in Wool days before Christmas.

The offenders forced their way through the front door of the flat and stole a large stamp collection, antique coins, cash and jewellery.

PC Luke Davis, of Wareham police, said they are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

He said: “I am appealing to anyone with information about this burglary to get in contact with us.

“This theft has caused great distress to the victim, a local 62-year-old man.

“We believe there to be two offenders, both are described as white men, aged around 20, of skinny build and around five feet seven inches tall.

“One had brown cropped hair and was wearing a lumber style jacket with cream and brown checks, and the second wore dark clothing.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen two men matching these descriptions acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident.

“I would also urge anyone who maybe offered stamps or jewellery in suspicious circumstances or at unusually low prices to contact Dorset Police on the non-emergency number 101.”

Officers have just released details of the incident at a property on Lower Hillside Road which happened between 7am and 7pm on Friday, December 21.

Witnesses and anyone with information can call Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident number 21:458 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
