DORSET Fire and Rescue Service is warning the public not to drive into floodwater unless they know how deep it is and can get through it following two incidents where they had to rescue people.

In Burton today (Christmas Eve) two people were rescued after their car got stuck in six inches of floodwater in Waterditch Road. Firefighters waded in and pushed the car to dry land.

In Blandford, an elderly man was rescued by firefighters after his mobility scooter got trapped in floodwater at the rear of the Co-op in Langton Road. The man was lifted from the scooter by two firefighters and carried to safety, while another firefighter pushed the vehicle to safety.
