Not rubbish parking, we'd just broken down... (From Bournemouth Echo)

Slow news day in Bournemouth...

Not rubbish parking... but certainly rubbish news.

There was an empty cardboard box on the middle of Holdenhurst Road this morning. I had to drive around it. Perhaps need "Driver takes evasive action to avoid cardboard box horror" as a headline ??

Quick where's that camera car when you need it? The Council should fine the driver for being parked over a pavement. Or dock his wages. No excuses now, rules is rules.

Maybe over, at least he is not on the pavement.

Chris, who lives in Bournemouth town centre, said: “I always carry my cameras around and watched as they tried to move the lorry; without success.” .....

What a pathetic story. Knowing full well the photograph is 'deceiving' how and why does this constitute news? I can only assume it's so that the wannabe tabloid journalist can use the 'rubbish parking' headline which undoubtably they consider novel and funny.

May be decieving but Id like to know how the front wheels are levitating?

Having been involved with driving and haulage for many years, it's obvious to me that the refuse truck is overloaded. It's front wheels would not come off the ground like that otherwise!
It's a good job a traffic copper didn't see this because once freed up he could have escorted the driver and vehicle at reduced speed to the nearest weighbridge to check it was within it's load limits. If it was over it's plated limit the driver and owner/operator could have been prosecuted. The fines for this offence are severe.

Is there really a reporter at the Echo called "Schooners"? I think not! Sounds like a wind up merchant to me!

But if for real you can't blame Echo reporters being up tight at the moment and spitting out their dummies. This is the time of year when Newsquest usually make BIG decisions for the future and with their track record of late most members of staff will be nervous of or expecting the axe in the near future! This time last year they shafted their best editor and all round good guy Neal Butterworth to save a few pennies which proves no-one's job at Echo Towers is safe!

Wow, that's rather an aggressive post especially for someone who claims to work for The Echo.

Tell me, do you actually read the paper/website? If so, do you consider it acceptable that professional journalists on a regular basis:

A. Misspell words.

B. Dramatise stories out of proportion using the words 'horror/terror/chaos
/carnage/shocked/stu
nned etc to the extent that credibility to most is lost.

C. Write stories based around vulnerable individuals who need protecting not exploiting and attention seeking individuals who just want to rant about anything or anyone for their own glory and gain.

D. Write stories that are often poorly researched to the point whereas they are inarticulate and as a result often do not make sense or stand up as credible.

And as photography is your subject, I assume you also support the ridiculous and obviously staged crossed arm pose we are subjected to pretty much on a daily basis and has come to be ridiculed by almost all. Could that photographer be you I wonder - you do seem very upset.

The Echo, as I understand it to be, is a community orientated newspaper and therefore has a responsibility to be just that. To my mind, the points I have raised above let it's readers down and that is why I comment (not 'troll' as you arrogantly judge). If there was a better level of integrity and attention to detail then I and many others wouldn't be banging the same drum.

It's not about making negative feedback for the sake of it, it's about standards - do you not understand that?

First off, I do not tend, if ever, to slag off Echo stories.

But I haveto say this is pretty dull as stories go. "Cat up tree" springs to mind.

Personally, I think it is really cruddy to use a national news story about suicide to court some sympathy about people pointing out this is not really news.

Finally, if you work for the Echo and want some 'face to face' action then you have my email address so please feel free to put your money where your mouth is, as it were.

At the risk of incurring more of Schooners' venom, I believe you should receive the Echo Comment Highest Onner (ECHO) Award for 2012 for your above comment.
A little research, a concept with which, as you point out, the Echo seems unfamiliar, would reveal Schooners as Chris Skone-Roberts who makes a living by touting rubbish and photographs like this around local and National newspapers.
Ironically, Skone-Roberts writes on plus.google.com: 'I always try to make people laugh with my stories as well as conveying some interesting thoughts.'
I am afraid he has failed dismally on this occasion!

I have to say that if this is the worst thing going on in the area, we should all be grateful! I for one am grateful for the odd little "and finally..." stories as it goes to show nice or unusual but unthreatening things happen. There's too much bad stuff going on in the world so an odd story like this is a nice thing to see. Perhaps not nice for residents or the driver of the truck in this case but no-one was robbed, raped, stabbed or murdered.

It sounds to me that Skoner has spent too much time watching Transformers, which is probably what he was doing there in the 1st place, waiting for the lorry to transform into a metal teddy bear. And lest be honest now, taking photos of stuff isn't exactly a job.
