Charity jam makers can relax: new EU legislation does not apply

South West Euro-MP Sir Graham Watson has received confirmation from the EU that proposed legislation designed to improve the sterilisation of jars does not apply to those who produce jam at home for charitable purposes.
He is to write to all dioceses and WIs in the region and community groups who have contacted him on the issue.
