Military veterans are being invited to a Christmas treat of tasty mince pies and cake.

The festive offering is part of the borough’s December Veterans’ Rendezvous.

The free event will be held on Wednesday, December 12 from 10am to noon in the Weymouth Pavilion Ocean Room.

The traditional Christmas cuisine will be delivered to the borough’s December Veterans’ Rendezvous and presented along with a few words by Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Margaret Leicester at 11am in the Ocean Room.

Coun Ian Bruce, Weymouth and Portland Borough Council tourism and culture spokesman said: “We are extremely proud of our local veterans especially the great work carried out by the many local forces associations in Weymouth’s annual Armed Forces Day Celebration event in June.

“This is another way of saying thank you to them. “We are delighted that Dorset Cake Co. is able to supply the Christmas treat for the event.”

Paul Walden, managing director of Dorset Cake Co, which is supplying the festive trests, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to supply our local veterans and friends with a Christmas treat.”

All veterans wanting to attend the event can turn up on the morning.

No booking is needed to be able to attened the event.
